Robert Allen Jones Sr. Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Robert Allen Jones Sr., 65, of Fairmont, passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2020, at his home. He was born in Fairmont on March 24, 1954, a son of the late Curtis Jones and Earleane (Freeman) Jones. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy and was a member of the VFW Post 7048. He retired from Federal #1 AND #2 and was a member of the United Mine Workers of America. Robert enjoyed sports, especially the Steelers, Pirates, and WVU football and basketball. He is survived by his children, three sons: Robert “Rocky” Jones Jr. and his wife Frances, Durell Jones, and Elias Jones, all of Fairmont; three daughters: Roberta Jones, of North Carolina, Candace Jones, of Ohio, and Durice Bush, of Morgantown; and his very special grandchildren: Jordan Jones, Kaleb Jones, Breona Jones, Nevaeh Jones, Avah Jones Jhamerion Bush, Zaniyah Glenn and Bella Aaron Jones. Also surviving are his brothers: Donnie Jones and his wife Linda, Jimmy Jones and his wife Sharlena, and Eugene Jones, all of Fairmont; his sisters: Barbara Springs and he husband Danny, of Fairmont, Toni Little, of Fairmont, Shirley Shepherd, of Fairmont, Tonya Jones, of Morgantown, Sonya Jones, of Morgantown, and Janet Washington, of Fairmont; stepbrother, Harry Jones, of Charleston and stepsisters, Frances Jones and Mary Jones, both of Clarksburg; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by a brother, Curtis Jones; two sisters, Alice Brown and Ella Lewis; and a brothers-in-law, Butch Shepherd and Lynn Brown. Family and friends will be received at the Carpenter & Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant Street, Fairmont on Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Thursday, March 12, 2020, from 10 a.m. until the service at 11:00 a.m., at the funeral home, with Pastor Wesley Dobbs officiating. Interment will follow at the West Virginia National Cemetery with Full Military Honors conducted by the Marion County Veterans Council Military Honor Guard and the United States Navy Honor Guard.
