Robert Alan Hayhurst Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Robert Alan Hayhurst, 65, of Orlando, Florida, formerly of Buckhannon, West Virginia and more recently Fairmont, WV, passed away on Thursday, November 30, 2017. He was born at Camp Cooke in California on September 15, 1952; the middle son of Beulah (Noland) Hayhurst of Florida and the late Morris Lee Hayhurst. Rob graduated from Buckhannon Upshur High School in 1970 and West Virginia University in 1982. He served in the United States Marine Corp from 1973-1977. He continued his service as a Sergeant-E5 with the West Virginia National Guard. After moving to Baltimore, MD in the late 1980's he worked as a Telecommunication Contracting Officer for the United States Government until his retirement in 2014. Rob was a passionate and devoted life-long WVU Mountaineers fan whom rarely missed a basketball or football game. He enjoyed spending time with his family and traveled to all 50-states. He also enjoyed taking his grandchildren, whom affectionately referred to him as "Bear", to Walt Disney World and other attractions around Orlando. Rob is survived by his mother, Beulah N. Hayhurst; his son, Brian L. Hayhurst of Worcester, Massachusetts; his daughter, Christine H. Davis and her husband James of Morgantown; three grandchildren, Audrey R. Davis, Elizabeth L. Davis and Katherine M. Davis; and two brothers, Ronald L. Hayhurst and Robin L. Hayhurst, both of Florida. Friends and family may call at the Carpenter & Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant Street, Fairmont on Wednesday from 1 – 8 p.m. and Thursday from 10 – 11 a.m. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 7, 2017 with Evangelist Kevin Lough officiating. Interment services and Full Military Honors conducted by the Marion County Veterans Council Honor Guard will follow at the Bridgeport Cemetery.
