Norma Cowger Norma E. Cowger, 91, of Shinnston, formerly of Whiteday Creek area in Marion County, died on Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at United Hospital Center in Clarksburg. She was born on August 5, 1918 in Pickens a daughter of the late French Doyle Travis and Hattie Maude Shaw Travis. Norma was a homemaker and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. She was a 1936 graduate of East Fairmont High School. She enjoyed canning, gardening, traveling and camping. She loved her family and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her sons Forrest Hutson of Shinnston, Charles “Charlie” Cowger of Fairmont, Doyle Cowger and his wife Linda of Fairmont and Norman W. Cowger and his wife Gracie of Lumberport; her daughters Marie Hutson Goff of Idamay, Dolly Williamson Williams and her husband Gail of Kempner, Texas and Darlene Cowger Singleton and her husband Clyde of Lumberport; her 18 grandchildren Darla Lake of Grafton, Angela Naser-Duong of Ft. Worth, Texas, Debbie Shaver of Monumental, Kathy Haddix of Benton’s Ferry, Jimmy Summers of Fairmont, Betty Bristol of Francis Mines, Allen Summers of Fairmont, Larry Thompson of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Shad Cowger of Fairmont, April Cowger Carpenter of Fairmont, Jason Cowger of Fairmont, Ashley Cowger of Fairmont, Michelle Cowger Spagnuolo of Goldsboro, North Carolina, Traci Cowger Ice of Good Hope, Travis Cowger of Shinnston, Bryan Singleton of Lumberport, Shannon Singleton Kellar of Shinnston and Dustin Singleton of Shinnston; 35 great grandchildren, seven great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her three husbands Delbert G. Cowger; Forrest Hutson and Carroll L. Williamson; her brother Thomas Travis; her sister Helena Travis Bunner and two grandchildren Gary Wayne Lake and Thomas Scott “Scotty” Lake. Friends and family may call at Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant Street, Fairmont on Friday from 6:00pm to 9:00pm, Saturday from noon to 9:00pm and on Sunday from noon to 1:30pm. Services will be held at the funeral home at 1:30pm on Sunday, October 4, 2009 with Pastor Steve Stemple officiating. Interment services will immediately follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
