Marlene Kay Reed

October 23, 1951 - September 24, 2018

Marlene Kay Reed, 66, of Fairmont passed away on Monday, September 24, 2018 at her home. She was born in Mannington on October 23, 1951, a daughter of the late Argle Prunty and Flossie Edgell Prunty. Marlene was retired from Fairmont State University as a manger in Food Service. She attended the Barrackville United Methodist Church. Friends and family will remember Marlene as hardworking, family oriented, and a lover of cooking. She is survived by her Fiancé, Gene Stone, of Fairmont; her son, Edward Shane Thomas and his partner Harmony Mafield, of Morgantown; her daughter Kim Brewer and her partner, Jeremy Anderson, of Mannington; and four very special grandchildren: Ariana Thomas, Pheobe Thomas, Hanna Brewer, and Amber Brewer. Also surviving is her brother, Ronald Prunty and his wife Shirley, of Ravenna, Ohio. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Gage Lee Anderson; and sister, Doris Jean Prunty. Family and friends will be received at the Carpenter & Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant Street on Friday, September 28, 2018 from Noon to 1 p.m. The funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to offset funeral expenses.
