Lula May "Molly" Shaffer

March 11, 1924 - April 6, 2020

Lula May “Molly” Shaffer, 96, of Fairmont, passed away on Monday, April 06, 2020, at Sundale Nursing Home in Morgantown. She was born on March 11, 1924, in the White Day Creek area of Opekiska, a daughter of the late Wesley Malone and Maude (Swisher) Malone. Molly graduated from Morgantown High School in 1941 and the Fairmont State Hospital Registered Nurses Training Program in 1945. She retired from Fairmont General Hospital after 33 years of service as a Recovery Room Head Nurse and an Operating Room Staff Nurse. She was a member of the American Nurses Association and the Association of Operating Room Nurses. She is survived by many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews, and many other loving relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, James “Ted” Fred Shaffer, whom she married on April 02, 1952. She was also preceded in death by brothers: Walter Malone, Bernard “Bun” Malone, Wesley “June” Malone, Robert Brooks “Johnny” Malone, Arthur Fay Malone, Edgar H. Malone, Richard J. “Dick” Malone, Lawrence Lee Malone Sr., and William “Bill” Malone; and sisters: Lela Johnson Phillips, Virginia Moon, and Emma Ellen Tinder. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the charity of your choice. In keeping with the family’s wishes, all services will be private.
