Helen Lee Cornwell

August 10, 1926 - May 2, 2019

Helen Lee (Morgan) Cornwell, 92, of Fairmont, passed away peacefully to be with our Lord on May 02, 2019, at the Pierpont Center at Fairmont Campus. She was born on August 10, 1926, in Farmington, a daughter of the late Frederick and Evelyn Lee (Shriver) Morgan. After graduating from Farmington High School, Helen went on to work at Owens-Illinois Glass Plant; she will be remembered for her love of family, friends, neighbors, and for enjoying the spaghetti dinners at the Baptist Temple. Helen is survived by one brother Donald Morgan and his wife Helen of Fairmont, her son, John Lee Cornwell and wife Mary, of Ohio; daughter, Carol Tatterson, of Fairmont; grandchildren: Mark Allen Skidmore and wife Kelly, and James F. Skidmore and wife, Sharon; and great-grandchildren: Teri, William, James, Megan, and Matthew; as well as many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her loving husband of over 40 years, John Leo Cornwell. She was also preceded in death by siblings: Robert Morgan, John Morgan, Wayne Morgan, Paul Morgan, Thelma Perron, Nellie Mays, Dorothy Ritter, and Beulah Morgan; and son-in-law, Ray Tatterson. Family and friends are welcome to call at Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont, on Tuesday from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m., and Wednesday from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m., with services starting at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 08, 2019, with Pastor Jim Zinn officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens.
