Florence Annabelle (Porter) Dougal, 88, of Fairmont, passed away at her home with her family at her side on Thursday, March 12, 2020. She was born on February 14, 1932, in Catawba, a daughter of the late Wilbert and Olive Porter. After graduating high school, Florence went on to be a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and homemaker. She will be remembered for her love of traveling, especially the beach, as well as window shopping, but most of all, for her love of her family and friends. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Darrel E. Dougal. The couple married on January 13, 1951. She is also survived by six children: John Dougal, Cheryl Haymond and husband David, Dolores Brenneman and husband Chuck, Debbie Gregory and husband Kenny, Darrel E. Dougal Jr., Brenda Lindsey and husband Delbert, all of Fairmont; 13 grandchildren: Christopher Haymond, Jason Haymond, Tonya Moore, all of Fairmont, Stephen Brenneman and Michael Brenneman, both of South Carolina, Amanda McBee, of Fairmont, John W. Dougal Jr., of Pennsylvania, Curtis Gregory, of Virginia, Stacey Diamond, of Pennsylvania, James R. Gore Jr., of Fairmont, Jennifer Hardesty, of Lumberport, Nick Dougal, of Texas, and Ashley McClung, of Fairmont; 30 loving great-grandchildren; and two nephews, Michael Porter, of Ona, and Danny Porter, of New Haven. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brother, Wilbert C. Porter; daughter-in-law, Terri Dougal; great-grandchild, Avery Lee McBee; and niece, Karen Frazier. Family and friends are welcome to call at Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont, on Sunday from 1 p.m. – 8 p.m., and on Monday, March 16, 2020, from 11 a.m. until the service at 1:00 p.m., at the funeral home, with Pastor Edward Carpenter officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
