Chlorine Barbour
November 5, 1918 - August 15, 2018
Chlorine (Robinson) Barbour, 99, of Fairmont, went to be with the Lord on August 15, 2018, a few months shy of her 100th birthday. She was born on November 5, 1918 in Fairmont to the late William Robinson and Mary Elizabeth Pine. Chlorine will be remembered as an avid card player and an amazing artist, who worked with charcoal and ink renderings, feather art, and metal. She was also an excellent cook and beer maker, a loving mother and grandmother, but most importantly -- a humble woman of God. She was a devoted member of the Trinity United Methodist Church and the Ladies Auxiliary for the former Black Elks Lodge in Fairmont. Chlorine is survived by daughter, Mary “Chip” Tucker, of Fairmont; granddaughter, Carmen Tucker-Griggs (Harry), of Pennsylvania; great-granddaughter, Faedra Nichole Thomas (Ramon) of Maryland, and great-great granddaughter, Mina London Thomas, of Maryland. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, Robert Ford Howard Barbour. Chlorine was also preceded in death by five brothers, Carl Robinson, William Matt Robinson, John Robinson, George Robinson, and Louis Robinson; and five sisters, Grace Robinson, Jean Sydnor, Ruth Amos, Mary Jane Branch, and Delores Anne Brown. Services will take place at Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant Street, Fairmont, on August 24, 2018 at 1:00 p.m., with Pastor Junius L. Lewis officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens. Repast will be held at the Work Day Café at 102 Pennsylvania Ave, Fairmont.
