The History of Our Funeral Home

Carpenter & Ford Funeral Home has been serving Fairmont and the surrounding communities since 1914. Four generations of Funeral Service Professionals have served with the Funeral Home.

Oliver Carpenter, an original founder, served from 1914 until his death in 1967. He was accompanied in work by his wife Dora Carpenter who was active in the business until she passed away in February of 1979.

Earl Carpenter was a second generation funeral director. Earl took over primary management of the company in the mid 1960's and was very active until his death in April 16, 2004.

Terry L. Carpenter, a third generation licensed funeral director and his sister Karen S. Gribben personally oversee all operations of the business today. Terry and Karen have accomplished many building improvements over the last few years to the facilities of Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home.

George M. Gribben is a fourth generation licensed funeral director at Carpenter & Ford since 1993.
